Abstract: OBJECTIVE To study the effects of San-he-wei-yao on gastric ulcer in mice and rats. METHODS The models of gastric ulcer were induced by restraint plus water-immersion,reserpine in mice and by pylorus ligation and acetic acid in rats respectively.San-he-wei-yao was given before or after gastric ulcer induction.RESULTS San-he-wei-yao inhibited dose-dependently development of the ulcers. The ulcer size, gastricacid production and pepsin activity were signif icantly decreased by both San-he-wei-yao and cimet idine.CONCLUSION San-he-wei-yao possesses ideal effects on gastric ulcer models.
