Abstract: Objective : To study the chemical constituents of marine starfish Asterina pectinifera. Methods : The constituents were separated and purified by column chromatography with silica gel and sephadex LH-20.Their structures were identified by spectrum and physical data. Results :Seven compounds were identified as : 3-(octadecyloxy)-1,2-Propanediol(1),5α-Cholest-7-en-3β-ol(2),asterosapoin P1(3),5α-cholestane-3β,6α,7α,8,15α,16β,26-heptol(4),5α-cholestane-3β,4β,6α,7α,8,15β,16β,26-octol(5),tryptophan(6),phenylalanine(7). Conclusions :Compounds 1 and 2 were isolated from Asterina pectinifera for the first time, while compound 4 was first obtained from Asterina pectinifera of China Sea.
